"How then, should I describe the Kingdom Of God? It is like a little girl and her crayons."

Yesterday I babysat one of our staffs kids. A five year old little girl. This girl, in the past, really has a way of accidentally sharing the good news. Or, at least I can see the story of God when she plays. Yesterday for example,  she wanted to play a game where she was the queen of all the crayon people. (We pretended the crayons were alive. I played the crayons, she was the queen.) Two of the crayons had to climb the high snowy mountain to get to the queen to ask for medicine for their mommy. Once they got up there, the queen (Ari) happily gave them what they asked for.
(Matt. 7:7-8 ; Jer. 29:12-14)
"I will give you this medicine and you can make your mom better! And after that, you can all come live with me in my castle!" (John 14:1-4 ; Exodus 15:13&17)
"Yay!" Said the crayon people.
The queen lifted the crayons and carried them down the mountain. They gave the medicine to their mom and she got better right away! (Before she could say itadakimasu) then the two crayons who had brought the medicine said, "the queen made our mom better and then she said we could come live with her in her castle!" (Luke 8:39 ; psalm 66:16 ; Psalms 40:3)
Some of the crayons were happy! Then some of them didn't believe the two crayons story. "That's not true!" They shouted in their colorful language.
(Matt. 13:14-15 ; Eph. 4:18 ect.)
"It's true it's true!" The queen shouted from her mountain over the crayon people. "You really can come live with me and give me honor and I will give you honor back!" (Yes she really said those words exactly)
(Job. 37:1-13 ; psalm 29 ; 1 Sam. 2:30 ; psalms 84:11)
"I believe!" One crayon joined the two who had shared their story. Then, one after another, other crayons believed too. But still, even after hearing the queens voice some of the crayons still wouldn't believe. (Heb.3:7-9)
The queen saw how the crayons weren't believing so she said, "I will give you the power to believe!" And with all her might, she threw her hands out and shot 'the power to believe' at one crayon at a time.
 (John 1:12; john 15:16; Rom.3:10-18)
A lot of them finally believed, but even still some were refusing to believe!
(I personally wanted to see what she would do so I made it that way)
So the queen jumped off her mountain and landed in the land of the crayons. One by one she grabbed the crayons and put them in the pile of crayons who believed. Even when one tried to run away, she stopped everything to chase after it.
 (John 3:16-17; Luke 15:4-7)
Finally, all the crayons were in the "elevator" (my hand) with a one way trip to the mountain.
Once lifted up onto the mountain (a stool), all the crayons were placed there.
"Ok!" The queen began, "we are almost there! Now we just have to go up to the castle!" The queen pointed high above them all. (Psalms 18:33)
"Up there? How will we ever get up there?" One crayon worried.
"No problem!" The queen swished her hand and made a ladder.
"A ladder? Is she kidding? What if I fall?" One crayon sighed.
"Alright, here you go!" The queen swished her hand again and made a staircase.
"What? I'm going to get so tired climbing all the way up that!" One crayon cried.
"Hmm..." The queen thought. "I know!" (Ari reaches over and grabs the hard plastic case that the crayons go in)
"I'll put you in here and it will lift you up!"
"Oh!" The crayons got excited.
"But wait, what if it falls while we are going up there?" One crayon said.
"It won't." The queen gently answered as she slowly lifted the little crayon off the mountain and into the lift.
"What if it stops half way?" Another crayon echoed concern.
"It won't." The queen whispered in a soft voice again as she lifted more of the crayons into the lift. "Here, I'll give you a seatbelt so don't be afraid."
(Titus 3:4-7; psalms 145:8-9; prov. 3:6; psalms 5:8; Isaiah 41:9-10; Deut. 31:6; Exodus 14:13-14)
"What about me, queen?" One tiny (half of one) crayon said from the edge of the mountain top.
The queen looked over the tiny crayon and said, "nope, not you." Then she continued to fill up the lift with all the other crayons.
"Why not me? I can do it too! I'm good enough! Whats wrong with me?"
The queen laughed and said, "Nothing's wrong with you, but right now you're too small. So, I'm going to put you back down here." The queen lifted the small crayon off the mountain and put him back in the land of the crayons.
"But I'm all alone! Why would you do this to me!?" The little crayon cried. "Fine! I'll just make my own home!" The tiny crayon climbed into a tiny bucket and claimed it as his home. Instantly the queen knocked it over and the crayon fell out.
 (Psalms 107:33-36)
"Why!? Now I am alone and have no home!"
The queen picked up the crayon and placed him inside a nice house with much more space. (A pair of sunglasses)
(psalms 68:6; psalms 107:4-9)
"This can be your home!" The queen smiled. "And here! Ill give you your brothers and sisters!" The queen placed all the other shorter crayons into the new house with the little crayon. They were all of different heights and colors.
"Wow! Thank you!" The crayon began to feel happier. But still, something inside felt sad for not being able to go up ahead when he was sure he was ready.
"But queen," the little crayon was a bit blue, but spoke with thankfulness. "Why couldn't I go up now?"
"Little crayon," the queen gently spoke, "you know I love you, (yes she said that) but you still need to grow." The queen reached up and pulled out one of the fully grown crayons from the lift that was ready to finish the climb up to the castle. "Here, I will give you this crayon to help you grow. He will teach you how to grow and then you can come with me to the castle."
 (Prov. 11:14; Exodus 18:21; Luke 22:26; john 3:2; Matt. 13:37)
The little crayon was thankful, and looked forward with a smile into the future of riding the lift and reaching that castle.

I'm not fully sure why I wanted to share this but I just felt like it maybe.
But it reminds me of how God is when he deals with me!
When I ask him for help, he does answer me! Not always the way I think, but it's better than I think, just like when the little crayons went to the queen to ask for medicine. They weren't expecting more, they were barely expecting to get medicine, but the queen not only answered their request, but she invited them to live with her forever and get honor for it.
It encourages me to share what God has done in my life and what he is offering to all of us! "Life with the King"! Like the crayons did when they got back home.
It also reminds me of his desperate pursuit of us. That when we run from him he goes after us regardless and that he gives us strength to believe. For all strength comes from him anyways!
And that once we believe, he is ready to lift us to higher places, and when we still need to grow, he can take us through times of trial and gives us a place to learn and grow, with people who The Lord has already grown before to teach us. But of cores, Jesus himself is our first and most important teacher of all.
God is good and I had fun with this story and felt touched by God just hearing the loving response this little girl gave to crayons.
He really loves us.
