Last Update From Tokyo, Japan

Hello Friends and Family!

I am only going to post a very short post.
This will also be my LAST post.

I am leaving Japan. (August 27th)

hopefully only for now.

The SWAT school (School of Worship and Transformation) has ended and I got all the money that I needed for it! Praise God!
(photo at the top was the last swat photo taken at final feast night)

The Past Four Months
For the past months I have been continuing my work with YWAM Tokyo, but beginning to step out of responsibilities.
I was working with "Base Life and Events" for a while, making sure that people were celebrated and that events with everyone were taken care of as well as keeping the base decorated.
I also continued to help with babysitting families children when they needed help.

I have also been saying many goodbyes over these months. There have been many of my fellow staff mates leaving for their next steps in life as well. I have said my final goodbyes to many friends already.

Next Steps

Please keep me in your prayers. I am thinking a lot about the future and feeling concerned about many things.
I don't fully know why God has asked me to return. But I know its him calling me, so I am obeying.
I hope to get a job while there. Also praying if God wants me to look into any kind of study.

This season has been extremely hard for very many reasons. Saying goodbye to many close friends or saying goodbye to the country I have called home, I can't say it's been easy at all.
I continue to struggle in many different areas of my life. God never promised "easy" or "smooth". He is there. He fights for me.

Prayers and Final Words

Thank you SO much!
Thank you to those who have financially given and supported me for these FIVE years of living in Japan. I have learned so much and will never forget it. I only wish I knew how to express my gratitude more. May God bless you tenfold!

Prayer Requests:

- My future (things to be a clear)
- YWAM Tokyo (blessings and for the building they are trying to buy)
- Japan (salvation)

I first came to Japan when I was 18 years old (2013).
I was always in love with this country even before I came. But I fell even harder the minute I opened my eyes the morning after arriving.
I could have never thought of a better way to be welcomed into this country than through YWAM Tokyo. It was a community and family that I never knew could exist outside of blood.
I was loved and cherished right away.
God encountered me there in a living room in Tokyo with people from all over the world.
Then, He continued to encounter me for 6 years after that in beautiful ways.
He let me live in the land of my dreams. And I am convinced that it had nothing to do with my skills or my abilities. It wasn't even the fact that this country needs the Gospel desperately. I truly believe It was simply because He loved me. He knew that this country was so deeply in my heart. He knew that I couldn't give back to it in any way. He knew that I wouldn't even be brave enough to become fluent in the language. He just knew that It would overwhelm me with confusion on HIS character. It would make me ask Him over and over how HE can be this good. That even though I don't measure up in any way, He can just say "It's because of MY love".

6 years later and I am moving back to the states with NO idea what will happen next.
But maybe, seeing that God loved me so much that He simply gave. Maybe there is hope.

Spring and Winter Update Plus More!

HELLO Friends and Family!

Thank you all so much for your support and prayers.

I would like to apologize for my late update. My last one was in November and I am sorry for not keeping you all up to date. Thank you for your grace and patience.

IESUSAMA Website

Some of  YWAM Tokyo staff have set up a "Jesus.com". The link is on a card that you can hand to people on the street.
The website is all in Japanese and tells the story of the gospel through a comic. It also explains many deep things and answers questions to Japanese people wondering about Jesus.
It also had church locations and contacts as well as YWAM contacts.
Please pray that God will use this more and more!

YWAM Tokyo, Christmas
& Moms Visit!
My Mom was here in December! It was sooo much fun showing her my world here. I enjoyed spending time with her, and seeing how she saw Japan also put myself in perspective of how amazing it is to live in this country.
We had a couple of Christmas parties where we did a present game (White Elephant). It was so much fun and such a blessing. Also we had the usual Santa on the streets event we do every year where we give people candy canes and free Santa hugs.

While my Mom was visiting, we stopped by the old Tokyo Emperor Palace.
On our way in, we ran into a group of University students who wanted to walk with us and talk English. So we let them join. While walking, my Mom got to share about Jesus with them, and at the end of our time with them I gave each of them an Iesusama card. (for the website).
It was a cool experience as I got to see my Mom pouring into and loving this nations people with passion.
Thank you Mom, for coming to see me!!

Korean Team, 2019

Every year in January, a CCC (Campus Crusade for Christ) team from Korea come to stay for 10 days with my Japanese church.
Each year I really enjoy this team and for the ones who come each year I have become friends with. I love seeing the reconciliation and the love that this Korean team brings.
They bring a lot of energy and laughter to this church with mostly elderly people. By the end of their time, there is always a party and the team will shed tears as they talk about how loved they felt by this Japanese church and how their heart is big for Japan. I love it!

YWAM Tokyo, Easter
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon we gathered as a community for food and games and socializing! It was such a nice day and we had bbq going and egg dying and an egg hunt. It was nice to gather and laugh together in the sun.

HAPPY EASTER!

Cate In Australia
As many of you know, I have a little sister working in YWAM Australia.
She has left for outreach as a staff leader!
Please keep her in your prayers as her and her team take off to new areas of the world to share Gods love.

She is awesome and inspires me to continue to have passion for the Lord and His people.

School Of Worship and Transformation (SWAT)
I have been here in Japan since September (2018) after I was in England for 4 months and Spain for 1 month.
I have been taking part in YWAM Tokyo's School of Worship and Transformation. I have only been auditing the school, meaning that I am paying much cheeper price for the school, getting about the same experience and learning from all the amazing teachers, but also having responsibilities of a YWAM staff member. (I don't get any YWAM credit for the school that could be used with University Of The Nations.)
It has been an amazing and difficult season in my life.
I have learned a lot about the heart of worship. How we are priesthood, made to declare truth. (1Peter 2:9).
I have learned that before you can see transformation in the places around you and the people, you must let the Lord bring transformation to your own heart.
I have learned that you are not your feelings. Truth is truth. Jesus is truth and His word is truth. Declaring truth regardless of if it "feels" real or not. The truth is, Jesus has overcome. The truth is, I am in Christ. I am His child.
Even though I say this, it still becomes a struggle over and over to say yes to the truth regardless of my own heart. But luckily, God is greater than our hearts, and He knows all thing. (1John 3:20).
Thank you for your prayers and support during this season!
The SWAT School has its graduation on May 10th. It is the end of an 8 month school.
I still need about $1,000 for the remaining auditing fee.
Please pray with me for this provision.

Adventure and Adventures
(A New Step Of Faith)
The picture above is me on top of a small mountain in Minami Izu, Japan. where I went for a 3 day prayer retreat with my fellow staff friend. It was something I was really craving and in need of a re-connection with God, because I had been struggling through some future things.
I loved climbing on rocks and discovering things in nature. I felt a reminder hit my heart as I watched the powerful waves of the ocean hitting the sides of the rocks violently.
"Why am I so afraid of people and of so many things? When the God that I serve is more powerful than these waves that could kill me?" (Matt.10:28, Psalms 27:1, Duet. 3:22,).
When you come to know God personally, you come to understand more of His goodness. How amazing!

All that being said, God has been calling me to a new step in life.
This year I will be moving back to Florida with my family.
I do not have exact dates, but I believe in May I will know the dates.
I will be messaging supporters the dates so that you will know when donations will end.
I have been hearing the Lord calling me back for about a year now. It has been a very scary thing for my heart stepping into the unknown, but I can feel clearly now the shift in my life and how God is showing me a new way.
It has been emotional planning to say goodbyes here in Japan, not knowing when I will return, but knowing that my heart is still pulled to this beautiful nation.
Please feel free to partner with me in prayer for the timing in my return. Also for the goodbyes I will face.
Thank you all for so much support in my time here! It has truly been what has kept me able to serve here for many years. I do hope to return one day.
Please feel free to email me for more information!

PRAYER REQUESTS, NEEDS & THANK YOU
(Photo from 2014. My first year staffing with YWAM Tokyo).

Prayer requests:
-- Recently I met a Japanese family with 3 young daughters and their mother is terminally ill. They are friends with a christian missionary lady who connected us. Please pray for this family. For salvation, for healing and for God to work in their life.

- My heart in planning to leave Japan.

Back in Tokyo UPDATE

Hello Family and Friends!
thank you so so much for your prayers and support over my time in London and now back in Tokyo!

I have been very thankful for being back here in Japan and being with my YWAM Tokyo family.
I have again been reminded of my thankfulness for this wonderful group of people.

Its been a while since my last update, so I am posting some of the bigger things I have been up to since my last post.

If you would like to donate please CLICK HERE.

Halloween Outreach!!

This past month we hosted our Halloween party outreach for families! We had lots of games with lots and lots of candy to give out to the kids as they played each game.
I got to be a big part of organizing things and decorating the base.

A good amount of Japanese families showed up for the event as well, and the kids had loads of fun! We had more families compared to last year.
We also got to share the gospel through a story time with the family and kids. It is always so encouraging to see people lean in while listening to the gospel being shared.
Thank you Jesus!

My Japanese Church
After returning to Japan, i was welcomed back by my lovely Japanese church group. They have again just made my heart very happy every Sunday as I get to know them a little more, even though I can't communicate very well, they still love me so well.
I got to join in with their church "retreat" over a weekend. It all happened at the church but they had a speaker come and had meals together.
We also watched a movie and after church on Sunday had a BBQ outside.
I got to have some good conversations with some of the church members.

SWAT!
(School of Worship and Transformation).

After coming back to YWAM Tokyo, I have been auditing (not full student, but get to learn with the students) the SWAT school.
It has been a real blessing and I often get blown away seeing how much these crazy awesome people can worship Jesus. Its a real blessing.

They are getting close to leaving for outreach, but for these almost 3 months now we have been in our first lecture phase. We have had teachers come and share on different topics and learning more about worship.
We have also been worshiping a lot.

For the SWAT school, there are times set aside to really sit with the Lord and go through the scriptures and lecture notes and process for myself. It has been some of my favorite times.
I have found that these times in the word and talking with Jesus have been so life bringing every time. He always is faithful to show me something new.

Small Group and Community
Again, it has been such a joy being back with this family.
Once a week, we have small group with staff and students. Our base has been growing a lot over the years, so we started doing small groups around a year ago so that we would stay connected, encouraged and together.
It is one of my favorite times of the week for sure.

New Website!

Link: http://iesusama.com/

This website is something new that a group of our staff put together to share the gospel easily and in detail with anyone we meet!
It is all in Japanese and has may ways that people can get connected and come to understand christianity.
There are little business cards that can be handed out to people we meet that have a code that can be scanned that takes you to the website.

I am really excited about this and very thankful it is happening!

My Mom came to Tokyo!

I AM SO EXCITED!!!

My beautiful Mother is here in Japan.

I am super thankful for this finally happening! My Mom has stepped into this part of my life for the first time!
So far for this first day it has been a huge joy walking her around and letting her be with my YWAM Tokyo family!
I can't wait for all the other fun stuff we will get to do!

Reminder Of My Call
This photo is a reminder to me that God answers prayers, He is loving, and His desire for people to know Him is greater than mine.

The Lord reminded me after coming back to Japan that He is the one that loves me and Japan, and that He has called me here simply because He loves.

I desire to love these people even more than I already do. No longer in my own strength like I have tried in the past, but to begin to lean on Him for my source and love because He first loved.
How freeing and awesome is that?

Thank You's and Prayer Requests!

Thank you to those who support me financially and to those who have been praying for me!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Prayer Requests:
- Japan Revival
- Japan Christians
- A Japanese family that I know
(Please pray for a Japanese family that I know who is going through a divorce in their family and other issues as well. I have been feeling a heavy burden to pray for their son who I taught English to for a bit. His name is Kouki).

Blessings!!!

UPDATE! Final Update in England!

HELLO FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
I am back from Spain and in England once again for one more final week of this Leadership and Ministry Development School (LMD)!!

Thank you all for your continual prayer and support for me while I have been working and growing here in Europe!

I am hoping that this update finds you well and that God is continuing to speak with you and teach you in His wonderful ways.

I am summing up this past 2 months with this update so I will try not to overwhelm you.
Feel free to just take a look at pictures.
I have put a bit of detail into some things.

Bournemouth, England:
 First Week
For the first part of our outreach phase, we went to a church in Bournemouth, England on the 21st of July. We would be sleeping on the floor of their community event centre they have next to the church.
We kept ourselves very busy for the week.
The focus was to bless the church and prepare for the next 2 weeks that would be a missions camp.

We were a LMD school of 9. Every day we met with the pastor, his family and some other members of the church for a prayer and worship time in the mornings. We blessed them by preparing a meal and spending time with them, as well as painting an image we prayed about and giving them words we heard from God and verses in the bible.

We spent some time in that first week as well joining the church for its services and going out for sports with the youth.
We helped prepare for the Summer Of Missions camp by going around and handing out flyers with information about the events, as well as going to many cafes to ask if we could host open mics.
We also connected with the language school next to the church and played ping pong with them and made a pizza party night to hang out with them.

The first week felt very busy for me and to be honest was a challenge. But we got through and it turned out well.

~SUMMER OF MISSIONS~
For the next 10 days after our first week in Bournemouth, England, we had a missions camp with so much happening!
This was one of my favourite experiences in my LMD school. It was a time filled with joy!

As a group we were around 80 people. Not all of us were in YWAM. Some people came from other churches and some people were friends of YWAMers.

We broke into 4 different groups. We had a dance team, a drum line, a drama team and an arts team.

We had 2 days of street performances that were aimed to draw people in and share the joy of God.

The dramas were focused on the story of God or how people see God. Very powerful with well done performances by the group.

After the performances were done, someone would stand up with a mic and share the gospel of Jesus. One of the people in our group spoke Arabic, and because of the large number of muslims and Arabic people, she translated the gospel in their language. it was very powerful.

The response of the people who stayed to listen to the gospel was small, but those who stayed listened all the way through, talked with some other people in our group and some received Jesus!
After the performances, the groups would break into smaller groups and go through the streets to share the gospel one on one with other people.

For me, I was in the "arts" team. So we were in charge of face painting, giving out chalk for kids to play with, and blowing bubbles with kids.

Next to the church we were all staying in was a English language school.
We were given permission to do a small performance for the students.
(We also had people on stilts).

After asking cafes if we could host an open mic, we only got one "yes" from a bar. So, a small group of us went to the bar and sang songs, did dances and small performances. Myself and one of my friends sang a song while I played ukulele. It was a nice chill and fun night.

Every day, we met together as a group to worship and focus our hearts on God. We had people share devotionals as well some days.
We had nights where we played games together and enjoyed getting to know different people.
we also had smaller "family groups" so we could get to know each other and open up to one another.

During this time, I was working with a couple others from my LMD school to do snack break every day for everyone.

We also had a couple of night where we were able to worship on the beach and have baptisms from different people in our group.

6 people from our group got baptised!
Beautiful moments.

On the last Sunday of the camp, we had a big presentation for the church. We did all the performances and held a big bbq for the church and anyone who wanted to come join.

With the arts group, we had some who painted beautiful pictures to display, and some of us were doing photography.
I was in the photography team. We took photos of some of the people on our group, then wrote original designs about those people and posted them on the wall with a little exhibition for the final event. I really liked the way it turned out and enjoyed writing nice things about amazing people.

RETREAT

The last 4 days of being in Bournemouth, the base planned a retreat. We did many things like worship and prayer and teaching sessions.
I was working with the DTS and LMD school to do snacks and other things we were in charge of doing to bless the staff during this time. The sessions i got to be in were really a blessing as well.
We also got to set off lanterns one night on the beach to simplify letting go of our old selfs and readying ourselves for the new. (The lanterns did not fly off as easily as we were expecting. But letting go of our flesh is also a challenge anyways so it was still a good symbolic thing.)
The retreat went well, and a good way to end the first part of our schools outreach phase!

Spain Outreach!
On August 13th, we flew to Malaga, Spain for the last month of our LMD outreach phase.
Two of our team mates stayed back in London. One because he was unable to get the visa he needed for Spain.
So we became a team of 7!
For the first week we planned for a kids vbs type of event.
We were living in a church that was close to a fairly large city. The pastor's wife planned a kids week where the kids would come to the church from 9am to 2pm for workshops and events with us and a couple of the ladies from the church.
We danced a lot with these very energetic kids. We also got to teach them about hearing the voice of God and how they too can have that connection with God.
I got to pray for some prophetic words for the kids as well during one of our workshops. It was tons of fun!
On the last 2 days of the kids week, everyone had a giant sleepover! All the kids slept with us (and the ladies) at the church! They all came in the morning like usually, then we went to a swimming pool where the pastors family lived. Then everyone came back for the sleepover. The next day we had a full day with everyone again.
After everyone left me and my team set up for a little exhibition that would be happening Sunday night for all the parents and members of the church to get to see all the art, pictures and different events that the kids did. It was a bit of work but it was a blessing to the church!

Also during this outreach, we partnered with a pastor who has a small Language learning school in the city. Many refugees go there. I got to have a cool conversation with one young guy there who went on a long and rough journey to get to Spain. it was very crazy to hear all he had gone through.
During this time too, we helped the pastor by walking around the city on many of the days and posting flyers for advertising his school.

We joined in with the church's baptism. Four people from the church got baptised. as well as a lady who had only stopped to listen and watch what we were all gathered for at a public beach, came up to the pastor and asked to get baptised.
We also joined in with the bbq they had on the beach after the celebration.

We also got to spend some good time with the youth from the church as well. It was a small group of people, but they were very real and an awesome group of people.
We got to go to the beach and hang out with them some!
Also, got to share a testimony from Japan with the youth on one of our hang out nights!
And one of my favourite times with them was the couple of times we got to have spontaneous, prophetic open worship. Its been months since I have been in that kind of environment and I was so blessed by their crazy ways of worship style! I always left wanting more of God and just to stay in that place of worship.

During our outreach we also spent time prayer for the church, the city, Spain, and different things we felt God laying on our hearts. We went on a few prayer walks in the area.
We also had a full prayer day from 8am to 8pm. It was a day where we had devotionals, worship, prayer sections in the church with topics and places to write down prophetic words, art table and writing table. Everyone worked really hard on this day to make it look nice and flow smoothly.
I really enjoyed the day getting to pray for people and spend lots of hours with God.
Many people from the church joined us as well.

One final event we got to help put on was a Missions Day. We decorated the church and prepared it for a night where the church members would bring food from other countries. Some of our people sang songs in different languages. Some got to share testimonies and we heard testimonies from other in the church who have hearts for different places in the world. And I got to share about Japan and show the YWAM Tokyo video "Why Japan?". It went really well and was a joy to join and help put this event on.

We did many things on this outreach. Like painting the church, working on a video, visiting the ywam base in the area, preaching on a few Sundays, going to an Arabic church and other little things on the side.
But some things I feel I learned (and am still learning) are these things;
- The motivations of your heart in the things you do are very important.
- Its good and ok to go above and beyond for things to look nice and be exciting for others.
- Don't let my circumstances dictate how my emotions and attitude are.
- I have a lot to learn.

~NEXT STEPS AND THANK YOU'S!~

Thank you to those who have been praying for me and those who help me to get to London for this school!
This season has been life changing and I hope to continue my journey with God in the things He started in my heart!!

My next step is going back to YWAM Tokyo!
Being honest with you, one of the hardest things about this season has been being away from my family in Tokyo. But now I will be returning to them on September 23erd!!

I know it seems like I talk about a lot of schools in YWAM on here. But let me talk about one more.
Starting September 24th is YWAM Tokyo's School of Worship and Transformation (SWAT).

I will be auditing this school!
(*That means I will still have the role of a staff but attending the schools classes and activities along with other staff work).
I will also go back to my Japanese language learning!

Why? - I feel from the time I heard that this school was going to be happening I felt a leap in my heart. Something that was shown to me during this school in London was that my ministry and actions are getting A's in grades. But, my heart can be far from a connection with God. This school is built for intimacy with God and removing anything that is in the way.
